Burn, Baby Burn

I have been wanting to improve my bread making skills lately. Tonight I decided to make these rolls from the My Kitchen Cafe blog to go with some beef stew. As I was removing the rolls from the oven I somehow burned two of my fingers. I don't know why, but burns hurt so bad. I even shed a few tears. I feel like I have been crippled all night. I am probably just being a big baby, but IT HURT!!! It felt like my fingers were on fire. Why? I have given birth to a child, but a small burn brings me to tears. On the up side, the rolls were a success.

Hair Flower and Tree Ornament

Over Thanksgiving break my sister-in-law started making some flowers for her daughters hair. I got in on it a little bit, which got me excited about trying to make some of my own. I haven't been able to find any good flowers yet. However, I did attempt to make one out of felt. I think it turned out really cute. Miriam's hair is getting longer so the search is still on for more flowers.

Each year I plan on buying everyone in my family an ornament for the Christmas tree. Last year Miriam got her first Christmas ornament. This year as we were out searching for something Michael came up with an amazing idea. I couldn't find anything I liked and so he suggested that we make one. Hello! Great idea! We bought a paper mache ball. I painted it red, and then we put gold paint on Miriam's hand and let her grab it. Initially we wanted a hand print, but it was too hard so we just let her put her mark on it. I think we have started a fun tradition.

Lance

We had my brother Lance over for dinner on Sunday. It was great to see him and talk with him without anyone else around. He is a great kid... what am I saying... he is a man now. I was very impressed with the way he played with Miriam. She started crying when I put her down and went to finish dinner. He stepped right up and started to play with her. He had her laughing in no time. It was a great evening. I always love spending time with family.

Out with the old, In with the new

I made a big decision this week. I have decided to sell my wedding dress. Sometimes I get really attached to things and think that I might need them someday. This has been especially true for my wedding dress. I think that I had the most amazing dress. Here is a reminder of how great it is.

However, I feel that it is time to move on. My sister sold her dress and said that it felt really good to make someone else so happy. I am ready to do the same. I probably don't even fit in my dress anymore. I will never wear it again... I won't have the right occasion! I can use the money for something fun. I have more important things in my life now... and they are even greater than the dress.

Cookies

I really wanted something sweet yesterday. I decided to try a new recipe for fancy sugar cookies. It was definitely the first time I had made cookies with this kind of frosting. Michael helped me dip them in the glaze. Then I wanted to get more creative and started adding stuff. By the end I was into it and wished I had made more cookies. I definitely want to try the fancy decorating again. However, we should try to not eat that many cookies in 2 days again... they were tasty.

(don't mind the fact that I only have Christmas cookie cutters)

More wishing

I always think of good post ideas when I don't have access to the computer. By the time I get the chance to use the computer I can't think of anything to write about.

I wish I wrote my ideas down
I wish I had a computer at home
I wish I had more reliable internet access

I love taking pictures. This goes along with my love of scrapbooking. I have probably blogged about this before, but I envy those that take such cute pictures of their children.

I wish I had a better camera
I wish I had a place to scrapbook
I wish I knew how to take better pictures

All this being said... here is a picture of my darling daughter. I will scrapbook this picture whenever I can. I will try to not feel stressed out about it.

Latest Project

A couple of weeks ago I saw this blogger on Studio 5 on KSL. I decided I wanted to steal the idea for a collage for our wall. Here is what I have been working on.

I think it turned out nice. Michael was a huge help with the hanging and painting the frames. I also found this mirror at DI that Michael painted. Not too bad for $2.

I am excited about home decorating right now. I am hooked on HGTV. We will see what projects I will come up with next. I can't wait for the day I will have an actual house to decorate.
